About Theophilus Publications

Our mission.

Theophilus Publications exists to publish gospel-centered books that honor Jesus Christ and serve his church. We want the truth of God's Word to land where you actually live — in your leadership, your doubts, your Monday morning — for all of life, and for the glory of God.

Our story.

Theophilus grew out of more than two decades of real ministry — churches planted, campus ministries built, leaders raised up, and plenty of lessons learned the hard way. Along that road a pattern kept surfacing: the people God calls rarely feel ready, and the books that actually help them are the ones written by people who have walked the road themselves. So we started writing things down. Not theory — field notes. We publish for people at every mile of the journey: sensing a call and hearing every reason to wait, carrying a weight that's grown heavier than expected, rebuilding after a hard season, or leading well and wanting to finish well.

Written for one reader.

Luke addressed his Gospel and the book of Acts to a single person — Theophilus, "friend of God." Everything carefully investigated, everything set down in order, so one reader could know the certainty of what he'd been taught. God took a work written for one reader and used it to reach billions. That's our standard and our name. We don't publish for an algorithm or a market category. We write for you — one reader, one life, one calling — and we trust God with the reach.

How we publish.

Ministry first, manuscript second. Nothing carries our name that hasn't been tested in the life of a real church before it was ever typeset — preached, taught, argued over in small groups, proven where it counts. And because a book should do more than end, our titles ship with working tools: study guides, assessments, and resources built for the small groups and leadership teams we wrote them for.

Who we are.

Theophilus Publications is an imprint of The Legitness Company, founded by Eric Schram — founder and lead pastor of Restored Church in Anchorage, Alaska, and author of our first title, Young and In Charge. We're a small house on purpose. Every book on our list is one we believe in enough to put this name behind.
